Whether it is donating our time, our beer, or working to brew with greener initiatives, here at Great Divide Brewing Co. we are passionate about our environmental and social responsibility.

TAP ROOM GIVING PROGRAM

In 2011 we launched our Tap Room Giving Program as a way to return the favor to the folks that have supported us from the very beginning. With the help of our thirsty patrons, $470,000 has been raised since the program’s inception. In 2016 alone, $95,012.43 in donations were raised through the Tap Room Giving Program from sample flights in our Tap Room and Barrel Bar and 31 different local non-profits were the recipients of these proceeds.

The Tap Room Giving Program has allowed the brewery to contribute to non-profits working through complicated issues like the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and Metro Caring while also expanding new partnerships. The program is centered around supporting community initiatives and organizations that provide opportunities to better the Denver community all while aiming to bring people together to try different beers and start a conversation about how they might be able to get involved. Ford Church, the Founder and Executive Director of the Cottonwood Institute, a program recipient says about the program, “We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Great Divide. The money that we raised as a Tap Room beneficiary helped support our programs with STRIVE Preparatory Schools in 2015. 95% of these students are high-need/eligible for free and reduced lunch and 90% are students of color. … We could not deliver the programs we do each year without the generous support of community partners like Great Divide.”

SPONSORSHIPS & DONATIONS

Another way the brewery supports the community is our involvement with great causes and events through sponsorships and donations. In 2016, Great Divide donated 300 barrels of beer for nonprofit affiliated events. We also put our efforts towards sponsoring large community events throughout the year like the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot and Levitt Pavilion Denver.

MILE HIGH UNITED WAY TURKEY TROT

In 2016, we had the opportunity to be the official beer sponsor for the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot for a third year. We have been fortunate enough to participate as a sponsor for the Mile High United Way Turkey Trot for the past few years. Each Thanksgiving, thousands of participants run in the Turkey Trot to raise money towards work that will help pull families and individuals in our community out of poverty. Every 21+ runner receives a free Great Divide brew in the beer garden after the race. In 2016, 180 cases of beer were consumed by deserving Turkey Trot runners.

LEVITT PAVILION DENVER

2016 was also our first year as the official beer sponsor for Levitt Pavilion Denver, a local non-profit focused on elevating the local music scene and increasing accessibility to free live music through the construction of the new Levitt Pavilion in Ruby Hill Park. This past summer Levitt hosted a free concert series at Civic Center Park featuring 5 different performances with Great Divide beer. We are excited to continue and grow this partnership in 2017 when the construction of the new pavilion is completed and will showcase over 50 free shows.

VOLUNTEERING

Great Divide also strives to give back by donating our time and efforts volunteering for local organizations. In addition to the brewery donating more than $2 for every barrel of beer produced and integrating hundreds of barrels of beer into not-for-profit fundraising events throughout the year, a good portion of employees volunteer their time to various organizations in the city and state. Our staff as a whole logged 300 hours of community service in 2016. Urban Peak, a non-profit that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless, was one of the many organizations where the Great Divide staff volunteered as a team. This year we spent 50 hours of volunteering with Urban Peak helping to serve meals and organize donations. From creating fundraising events to working with community gardens and providing support to organizations that are included in the Tap Room Giving Program, these employees are creating new relationships and, at times, establishing new connections all stemming from a shared passion for beer.

GREAT DIVIDE GREEN TEAM

Here at Great Divide, we are passionate about our environmental responsibility. In 2016, a group of Great Divide employees came together to create the Great Divide Green Team. As we expanded and opened a brand new facility, we saw an opportunity to make changes throughout the brewery to implement greener practices on every level.

MISSION

The Great Divide Brewing Co. Green Team is devoted to ensuring that the production of our award winning beer is economical, profitable, and sustainable by minimally impacting the environment, in turn leaving a positive impression on those who enjoy our beer.

STRATEGY

Analyze our current methods of practice in order to IDENTIFY areas in which the brewery could be more economical or profitable by reducing waste streams.

EDUCATE employees and customers about policies, practices, and procedures by distributing information to ensure clarity and precision.

FACILITATE in developing programs to minimize waste and improve business practices while offering positive reinforcement through transitional phases.

SUSTAIN a culture of producing high-quality beer through economically and environmentally responsible practices while measuring and presenting metric in order to encourage a culture of green practices within the company.
