Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

Crack open Yeti Imperial Stout’s sophisticated sibling – Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout. Although these beers come from the same clan, they have entirely different personalities. Aging on a blend of French and toasted oak chips infuses a subtle oak and vanilla character into Yeti’s already intense chocolate, roasted coffee malt flavor and hugely assertive hop profile. Who says you can’t tame a Yeti?

A respectable 75 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Alcohol by volume:  9.5%

  • Marty Jones, of the Celebrator Beer News proclaims that the oak aging “rounds out the beer, tempering its hop bite and softening its mouthfeel while adding lovely flavors of oak.”  Jones calls Oak Aged Yeti “a goose bump-inducing hybrid.”
  • BeerAdvocate.com taster Crosling, of Fort Collins, Colorado, describes the effects of oak aging on Oak Aged Yeti, “Add[s] winey fruitiness with deep chocolate, toffee, coffee and cocoa throughout and a small hint of honey and oak on the finish.  Another winner from what I personally consider to be Colorado's best brewery.”  (08/09/04).
  • CaptainCougar, a Ratebeer.com taster, describes Oak Aged Yeti, “Pours a rich obsidian with a dense, full brownish head.  Has a sweet, roasty, enticing mocha oak aroma. Starts with a thick, rich caramel-chocolate sweetness and viscous palate.  Oak flavor is evident, but not overpowering and very nicely balanced.  Has a pleasant coffee-like hoppy bitterness that leads to a semi-dry, yet sticky finish that hides the alcohol magnificently.  This is a very flavorful and complex brew and the oak makes it even better.”  (10/09/04).
