Why It’s Hot: The craft-beer scene in the River North ‘hood continues to explode, and with the arrival of the Barrel Bar — an intimate taproom that’s the first phase of a forthcoming five-acre destination beer campus from Great Divide Brewing Co. — it’s a toss-up which deserves more attention: the eye-catching reclaimed barrel staves suspended from the ceiling or the 16 house-brewed craft beers on tap, which include everything from hoppy IPAs and porch-pounding wheats to farmhouse-style ales and robust stouts. Occupying prime real estate on the banks of the South Platte River, there’s also a large wraparound patio for spillover seating.
Must-Drink: Claymore scotch ale, or the Old Ruffian, a barleywine-style ale available February through May.
