In Good Taste Denver: What’s In Good Taste This Week

We did a bit of traveling and what did we come home to? A bunch of great events, naturally. There’s never a shortage of great foodie events happening in Colorado. That hard part is deciding which ones to feature. Here are our picks for this week.

Early bird tickets are now live for the Denver Food + Wine FestivalThe six-day long festival (Sept. 5-10) that is still the only food and wine event in which all proceeds directly benefit charities Various DF+WF events feature the best in Colorado’s restaurants paired with the finest wine and spirits, dinners, tastings and culminating with the festival’s signature event, The Grand Tasting. Each event highlights the impact of the hospitality industry and celebrates Denver as a culinary destination.Renegade Burrito, a new Mexican fast-casual restaurant, announces the opening of three new locations in Westminster, Aurora, and Thornton.  Renegade offers authentic Mexican fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests are able to customize their burritos, bowls, tacos, and salads with a variety of tortillas from Raquelita’s, a local Denver tortilla company, high-quality proteins, and freshly-prepared vegetables.

Thursday, July 20 Great Divide Brewing Company is providing Colorado beer drinkers with a juicy new beer called Hazy IPA. This beer has almost six pounds per barrel of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops. At 6.2% ABV, Hazy IPA is a juicy hop bomb that delivers the bitterness without the bite. The brewery has kept the release draft only with a shorter shelf life to ensure that craft beer drinkers are tasting Hazy IPA fresh. The beer is available at the Great Divide Tap Room and Barrel Bar, as well as at select Colorado bars and restaurants.

Top of the Town  – For the first time ever, you can buy tickets to the most exclusive event of the summer. 5280 Top of the Town is a celebration of the best stuff in Denver. The event will feature restaurants from our Top of the Town 2017 list as well as open bars, music and a few fun surprises along the way.

Friday, July 21

Centennial’s Maggie Smith’s Irish Pub is doing a community pig roast this and every Friday at 7 PM. Come on down and enjoy a beer or two while grubbing on some FREE food! The event is meant for families, friends, and the entire neighborhood.

Ocean Prime is making Friday’s better with Shake, Shuck & Pop in the Ocean Prime Lounge from 3:30-6:30pm.  They’ll serve up $1 Oysters, $10 Sushi Rolls, $10 Veuve Champagne and $10 featured cocktails shaken tableside.

Element Kitchen & Cocktail, a new restaurant from Element Hospitality and culinary consultant Chef John Tesar, will open its doors to the public on Friday. Located in the Golden Triangle neighborhood, Element is described as being “an elevated version of the traditional sports bar with a carefully curated menu focused on seasonal and local foods while celebrating the best of Colorado’s beer and spirits.”  The menu takes a creative and sustainable approach to traditional bar food by showcasing seasonal and local ingredients with a healthier take on preparations. Shareable Boards including The Element Bacon Tasting Board, along with salt and vinegar and Vietnamese style grilled wings, a pimento cheeseburger and avocado fries will complement a wide range of options including gluten-free, and vegetarian offerings.
