Great Divide Brewing Company has been in Denver for nearly 25 years and is a shining example of Colorado microbreweries.  Great Divide’s Denver Pale Ale is one of the brewery’s staples.

Denver Pale Ale is a solid pale.  It has a nice transparent orange color, and it has a small, slightly foamy head. You can smell the mild hops and floral scents as your nose approaches the top of the glass.  Some slight toasty malt sweetness helps bring out some of the citrus character.

Since Great Divide is one of my favorite breweries, I thought I’d also highlight a bit of its history. The brewery started small and in the beginning just had one full-time employee. As it grew, the beer spoke for itself and Great Divide quickly became one of Denver’s best.Since 1994 Great Divide has brewed an assortment of beer styles and added lots of brewing capacity.  In 2001, they purchased their building – which used to be an old dairy processing plant.

In 2011, the brewery realized they would have to increase their space and capacity. In 2013, they bought 5 acres in the nearby RiNo neighborhood. They recently opened the Barrel Bar at the new RiNo location. Great Divide typically has 9 standard beers and a variety of seasonal brews.
